Sweet pastries are often hosted on our tables. They are an obligatory element of every Christmas and family celebration, as well as a delicious addition to everyday coffee and tea. However, each time we order cakes and pies or prepare them ourselves, we should take care of a few additional details to make our treat a success. Namely, it is about the safe transport of the baking, its storage and the proper cutting of the cake or cake. The following article will help you deal with these issues.
What's the best way to transport baked goods?
The easiest way is, of course, to use the possibility of delivery of your order via => confectionery company, where we made the purchase. Then we have a guarantee that the cakes will be professionally packed and transported without prejudice to the address indicated.
Customers of our confectionery Jacek Placek can count on this delivery option. We deliver orders every day in the Tri-City and on selected days of the week in the area from Słupsk to Hel.
How to transport cakes and pies by yourself?
However, when we bake a cake at home or do not decide on delivery when placing an order in a pastry shop, then in this situation we should make every effort to ensure that our dessert is not distorted during transport. First of all, you need to get a suitable box to pack the baking. The best is a cardboard one that closes and is equipped with a handle - such packaging for cakes and cakes is used by confectioners. Therefore, if we order a cake in a pastry shop, let us remember that it should be placed in such a professional box.
Extreme care should be taken when transporting the cake. Let's try to secure it inside the box so that the cardboard walls do not accidentally deform the delicate decorations and cream. In addition, in the summer, it is necessary to take care of the low temperature in the car, so let's turn on the air conditioning. And the packaging with the cake should also be placed in a travel fridge or in a thermal insulation bag.
How to properly store cakes and pies?
Another important issue regarding baked goods is their proper storage. What to do to keep them fresh and tasty for as long as possible? Most cakes are great for freezing, so if we plan to spread the consumption of our sweets over a longer period of time, they should be put into a container or wrapped tightly with cling film, and then placed in a freezer at a temperature below -18 degrees Celsius. Pastries can stay in it for about 6 months and are still very tasty after taking them out!
However, if we are going to eat the cake in a few days, the best place to store it is the refrigerator. This rule applies in particular to cakes, cheesecakes and other desserts with jelly, cream or custard or fruit. We should keep the cake in a closed container, e.g. in a company packaging from a pastry shop. It is also best if we get rid of products with an intense smell, such as sausage or blue cheese, from the fridge for this time - none of us would like sweets to be soaked with an undesirable aroma ...
However, in the case of dry, brittle pastries, but without the addition of fruit, low storage temperatures are not recommended, as they can cause the dough to harden quickly. We recommend keeping such products in tin forms, and cookies in tightly closed boxes.
How to cut a cake and cake?
Cutting sweet pastries can be troublesome, which is why some of us do not want to take on this task at all. How to make the pieces of cake evenly sized and not fall apart when cut? We have an effective way to do this, which will work especially well in the case of cakes and pastries with icing. To begin with, we need to prepare two thin sharp knives. Then we pour boiling water into a tall vessel and place our knives in it. We wait a while for them to warm up. Then we take out one of them, wipe the blade dry and start cutting the cake. After each serving, remove the cream from the blade. When the knife cools down, switch it with the other one that has been in hot water all the time and repeat the whole process. Thanks to this method, we will cut each cake nicely, evenly and quickly!
