Chocolate is a delicacy known all over the world. It is a great snack, a delicious drink, and an excellent ingredient in many desserts and dishes. Due to its popularity and versatile use, World Chocolate Day was established, celebrated on July 7. On this occasion, we have prepared a few recipes for the most creative and delicious chocolate desserts. Prepare yourselves for a real chocolate frenzy!

How to use chocolate for desserts?

Chocolate has a wide range of uses in the kitchen. It can be processed in many ways and thus obtained from it several types of consistency for use in desserts. In solid form it is perfect for sprinkles and as a component of shortbread cookies. On the other hand, melted in a water bath or in liquid form we can use it to prepare cream, mousse, icing or a very chocolatey brownie. Chocolate gives a lot of possibilities for making desserts - both for cool autumn and winter days, as well as for hot summer in combination with fresh seasonal fruit. The intense sweetness of chocolate perfectly matches the slightly tart taste of cherries, raspberries or currants. However, there are many more such combinations with chocolate, and each of us can create our own unique delicacy from them.

Recipes for delicious chocolate desserts

Celebrating Chocolate Day is not complete without feasting on chocolate delicacies. This is a great opportunity to try your hand at cooking and experiment with new flavors. Below are a few simple recipes for making a delicious dessert with chocolate.

Brownie with beetroot

Beetroot may seem like a rather unusual ingredient for a cake. However, in the case of brownies, it does its job perfectly, giving them a lot of moisture. What's more, it is difficult to detect in the taste, so no one helping themselves will certainly notice that one of the ingredients of the cake is beetroot.

Ingredients:

  • 250 g dark chocolate
  • 250g butter
  • 200g sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 150 g wheat or wholemeal flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 250 g boiled or baked beetroot

Preparation:

  1. Melt the chocolate and butter in a pot.
  2. Make a pulp from the cooked beets in a food processor or grate them on a fine grater.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar.
  4. Add the sifted flour and baking powder, mixing gently.
  5. Add melted chocolate and prepared beets, mix thoroughly.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a baking tin lined with baking paper.
  7. Bake at 180°C for about 20-25 minutes. The stick inserted into the brownie should be wet and sticky, but there should be no trace of raw dough on it.

Chocolate ice cream with chili pepper

This is a delicious creamy ice cream that leaves a spicy chili aftertaste on your tongue. This dessert is a real treat for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups heavy cream 36%
  • 1 cup unsweetened condensed milk 7.5%
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1-2 teaspoons ground chili (depending on preference)

Preparation:

  1. Heat the condensed milk, but do not bring it to a boil.
  2. Add the chopped chocolate and stir until completely melted.
  3. Add chili and mix.
  4. Once cooled, place the mixture in the refrigerator to chill.
  5. Remove the cream from the fridge and whip, adding sugar one spoon at a time.
  6. Pour the chocolate cream into the whipped cream and mix everything together with a spatula.
  7. Place the mass in a container prepared for freezing ice cream.
  8. Place the container in the freezer for approximately 4 hours.

Chocolate avocado mousse

This dessert is not only tasty, but also healthy and filling – it can successfully replace a smaller meal. A great addition to avocado mousse are seasonal fruits such as strawberries or raspberries.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 100 g dark chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons of cocoa
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Preparation:

  1. Melt the chocolate in a water bath and then let cool.
  2. Peel and pit the avocado and blend the flesh until smooth.
  3. Add cocoa, maple syrup, vanilla extract, salt and melted chocolate to the mixture.
  4. Blend everything into a smooth cream.
  5. Transfer the mousse to bowls and place in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

Lava cake, or chocolate fondant

It is a unique, very impressive dessert with a liquid, chocolate interior that melts at the first bite. Contrary to appearances, it is quick and easy to make. Lava cake tastes great with various additions, e.g. ice cream, fruit or whipped cream.

Ingredients:

  • 200g dark chocolate 70%
  • 100g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 60g sugar
  • 30g flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation:

  1. Melt the chocolate and butter in a water bath and mix until smooth. Set aside to cool. 
  2. Beat eggs with sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add melted chocolate with butter and vanilla, mix gently.
  4. Sift the flour into the chocolate mixture, mixing slowly with a spatula.
  5. Prepare baking tins, grease them with butter and sprinkle with flour. Ramekins are ideal, as they do not require the use of flour. Then pour the chocolate mass up to 2/3 of the height of the tins.
  6. Place the molds in an oven preheated to 200°C and bake for about 8-10 minutes. The surface of the cake should be baked, but the center should remain liquid.
  7. Once baked, remove the fondant from the oven immediately. Wait a few minutes, then carefully transfer to a plate. The lava cake is ready to eat.
